Alfred Döblin

Alfred Döblin
German novelist Alfred Döblin created such modernist novels as Berlin Alexanderplatz (1929), which explores an ex-convict’s life in Berlin. Döblin himself wrote the screenplay for the 1931 film adaptation, using film cutting and editing techniques to benefit the narrative prose.
