René Lacoste

René Lacoste
French tennis player René Lacoste was one of the outstanding players of the 1920s, winning the French Open three times, and the US Open and Wimbledon twice each. He was also the key player in the team that won France its first Davis Cup victory in 1927. Two years later, aged 25, he was forced to retire from tennis because of ill health. He is also known for his range of sportswear, which bears a logo based on his nickname, “the crocodile”.
