Achilles Wounding Penthesilea

Achilles Wounding Penthesilea
Coming to the aid of the Trojans in the Trojan War, Penthesilea, the beautiful queen of the Amazons, slaughtered many Greeks. She was, in turn, killed by Achilles, who also took her weapons. The scene on this Attic vase shows Achilles overpowering the Amazon. It was painted by Exekias in the 6th century bc.
