Battle of Chacabuco

Two days before the triumphant arrival of José de San Martín and Bernado O’Higgins in the Chilean city of Santiago, their troops had defeated the Spanish armies at Chacabuco. This oil painting, by Pedro de Subercaseaux, depicts a scene from the battle, which took place on February 12, 1817.
