Johann Paul Friedrich Richter

Johann Paul Friedrich Richter
Johann Paul Friedrich Richter (1763-1825), who wrote under the pseudonym Jean Paul, was one of the greatest prose writers in the German language. Although Jean Paul's works are no longer widely read, the success of his second novel Hesperus (1795) made him the most popular writer of his time. The novel is notable for its sparkling wit, sharp satire, cultural sophistication, and rich language.
