Map of Ombrone

Ombrone, either of two rivers of Tuscany, northern Italy. The longer and more important of the two, the Ombrone Grossetano, rises in the hills of Chianti, and flows through the Maremma district which it waters. It enters the Tyrrhenian Sea 16 km (10 mi) south-west of Grosseto. It is 160 km (100 mi) long. The lesser Ombrone, the Ombrone Pistoiese, is a tributary of the River Arno. It rises near the Pass of Porretta, in the Pistoia hills, and flows a short way to join the Arno about 7 km (4 mi) west of Florence.
