Windows Live® Search Results Loch Tay, inland stretch of water, western Tayside, eastern central Scotland, measuring about 22.5 km (14 mi) in length south-west to north-east by about 1.5 km (1 mi) in width, and covering an area of 30 sq km (12 sq mi). The loch is located in the Breadalbane highland area, 106 m (349 ft) above sea level; to the north, Ben Lawers rises to 1,214 m (3,982 ft). The rivers Dochart and Lochay enter the loch at Killin, which is drained to the east by the River Tay. An island near the entrance to the River Tay at Kenmore is thought to be the site of a priory built in 1122 by Alexander I.
