Maritime Alps, mountain range, division of the Alps, located south of the Cottian Alps and west of the Ligurian Alps on the border between France and Italy. The range includes the Larche Pass and the Enchastraye Massif, at 1,585 m (5,200 ft) and 2,960 m (9,700 ft) respectively. The highest peak, Punta dell' Argentera, at 3,297 m (10,818 ft), is on the Italian side of the Maritime Alps.
