Windows Live® Search Results Clara Bow (1905–1965), American film actress, known as a “Jazz Baby” and as the “It Girl” after her portrayal of a glamorous flapper in the silent film It (1927). Bow was born in New York. Unlike many of her peers, Bow made a smooth transition to sound films with The Wild Party (1929). Her other films include Down to the Sea in Ships (1925); The Plastic Age, Kid Boots, Mantrap, and Dancing Mothers (all 1926); Rough House Rosie and Wings (both 1927); Red Hair and Three Weekends (both 1928); and The Saturday Night Kid (1929). She made her last film, Hoopla, in 1933. Her husband, actor Rex Bell, later became lieutenant-governor of Nevada.
