Louis Joseph de Bourbon, Prince de Condé (1736-1818), French military leader, great-grandson of Louis II, prince de Condé, born in Paris. He fought in the Seven Years' War, and, at the outbreak of the French Revolution, he organized support in Germany for the French royal family. His contingent, which fought the revolutionaries until 1797, was called the Army of Condé. During the Napoleonic Wars, he fought the French in Poland under the Russian flag and in Bavaria under British command. He later fled to England, remaining there until the French monarchy was restored in 1815. He then retired to his estates at Chantilly, north of Paris. Louis Joseph was the last of the Condés. His son, the duc d'Enghien, was executed by Napoleon.
