Windows Live® Search Results Al Ḩudaydah, also Hodeida, city, western Yemen, on the Red Sea. One of the principal seaports of the country, it is situated north of the strait of Bab el Mandeb and south-west of Sanaa, the country's capital. Exports include coffee and hides. The city was largely rebuilt after a fire in 1961, and its port facilities were improved and enlarged. A road linking Al Ḩudaydah and Sanaa was completed in 1961. Population 155,110 (1995 estimate).
