Map of Lomond, Loch

Lomond, Loch, scenic lake, western Scotland, in the mountains north of Glasgow. The largest lake of Scotland, it is about 40 km (24 mi) long and is drained south via the Leven River into the River Clyde near Dumbarton. The island-studded lake and nearby Ben Lomond (973 m/3,192 ft high) are popular tourist attractions. In July 2002 the Loch Lomond area, together with the Trossachs valley, was designated Scotland’s first national park—the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park—encompassing about 1,865 sq km (720 sq mi) of land and inland waters of high conservational value.
