Windows Live® Search Results Namp'o (formerly Chinnamp'o), city in western North Korea. It is near the capital city of P'yǒngyang, of which it is the port. Namp'o is also a fishing and manufacturing centre, with a large shipyard, and factories producing electrodes and glass. Its main growth began in 1897 when the city's port was opened to foreign trade. Population 715,000 (2007 estimate).
