Indochina, name sometimes given to the peninsula between India and China, which includes Myanmar, Thailand, the Malay Peninsula, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam. In a narrower sense it refers only to Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, which between 1893 and 1954 were united politically under the name French Indochina. For details of topography, climate, flora and fauna, ethnology, culture, economy, politics, and history, see articles on the individual countries.
