Windows Live® Search Results Xingu, river, north-western Brazil, formed by the union of three streams in the northern section of the plateau of Mato Grosso. About 1,980 km (1,230 mi) long, it flows north through the states of Mato Grosso and Pará and empties into the delta of the Amazon. The central section of the river contains numerous impassable falls and rapids. The river is navigable for about 160 km (100 mi) above its mouth.
