Aegium, ancient town of Achaea, Greece, on the southern shore of the Gulf of Corinth. According to legend, it was the birthplace of Zeus, and a shrine to Zeus Homarios was nearby. When the Achaean League was re-established in 280 bc, Aegium became its capital city. The modern town is known as Aiyion.
