Nasturtium, common name for several related climbing plants, native to South America, and widely grown in flower beds and garden borders. The nasturtium of gardens has showy, long-spurred flowers, usually orange or red in colour. The young, round leaves may be used as salad greens and the young flower buds eaten pickled. Nasturtium is also the scientific name for the unrelated watercress genus.

Scientific classification: Nasturtiums belong to the family Tropaeolaceae. The nasturtium of gardens is classified as Tropaeolum majus.
