Japurá, tributary of the Amazon River, rising in the Andes of south-western Colombia, where it is called the Caquetá. The Japurá flows in a south-eastern direction into Brazil where it shifts to an eastern course, joining the Amazon River through a system of channels. It is about 2,410 km (1,500 mi) long.
