Windows Live® Search Results Australasia, in physical geography, designation sometimes applied to all the lands and islands of the Pacific Ocean lying between the equator and latitude 47° South. The region includes Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand, New Caledonia and Dependencies, the Marquesas Islands, and a large part of the Malay Archipelago. The term Australasia is occasionally used to designate Oceania, which includes most of the islands of the Pacific Ocean.
