Map of Tweed

Tweed, river, southern Scotland and north-eastern England. It rises in the Southern Uplands of Scotland and flows generally east for 156 km (97 mi) to enter the North Sea at Berwick-upon-Tweed, England. The river's lower course forms part of the boundary between Scotland and England. Its principal tributaries include the Yarrow-Ettrick system and the Gala Water River and Teviot River. Agriculture and sheep raising are the leading economic activities of the Tweed Valley, which is also known for its woollen Tweed cloth. The generally fast-flowing, shallow river is famous for its trout and salmon.
