Golden Globe Awards

Golden Globe Awards, film and television awards, given annually and administered by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a group of international journalists who work in Hollywood, California. The awards were first given in 1944 for films only; awards for television were added in 1956. Golden Globe statuettes are awarded annually in several categories, including best dramatic and musical/comedic films, best foreign-language film, best director, best actor and actress, best supporting actor and actress, best dramatic and musical/comedic television series, and best mini-series or television film. In 2006 a new award for animated feature films was established. In addition, the Cecil B. DeMille Award is given for lifetime achievement in cinema.
