Windows Live® Search Results Causses, region of limestone plateaux, called causses (French, chaux, “limestone”), south central France, constituting part of the Lot, Aveyron, Lozère, and Tarn-et-Garonne departments. The plateaux are separated by deeply eroded river valleys. Causses is sparsely populated and is principally a sheep-raising area. The region dates from the Jurassic period, and it has underground streams, stalactite caverns, and sinkholes.
