Eupen-et-Malmédy and Moresnet, two small districts, eastern Belgium, in Liège Province, near the border with Germany. The districts had been under Prussian control since 1815 but were transferred to Belgium after World War I. After the outbreak of World War II, in 1939, Germany forcibly incorporated the districts into the Third Reich. Belgium regained the territory at the end of the war. Area of Eupen-et-Malmédy and Moresnet, about 1,025 sq km (about 395 sq mi).
