Her husband was slain by the Greek warrior Achilles shortly before Troy was captured by the Greeks in the Trojan War. Andromache's only son was hurled from the battlements of the city, and she was given to Neoptolemus, son of Achilles, as a prize of war. She bore Neoptolemus three sons, and after he was slain at Delphi, she married Helenus, brother of Hector and king of Epirus.
