Conformations of CyclohexaneConformations of Cyclohexane

Cyclohexane, colourless, volatile liquid, C6H12, with a pungent odour, produced by the hydrogenation of benzene and the distillation of petroleum. It is used primarily as a solvent for paints, resins, varnish, and oils and as an intermediate in the manufacture of other industrial chemicals and nylon fibres. Cyclohexane freezes at 6.55° C (43.79° F) and boils at 80.74° C (177.33° F).
