The Drin River, about 152 km (90 mi) long, has two headwaters: the White Drin, which rises in the province of Kosovo in Serbia (part of the federation of Serbia and Montenegro) and flows south into Albania; and the Black Drin, an outlet of Lake Ohrid in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, which flows north-west into Albania, eventually joining the White Drin near the town of Kukës. From there the Drin flows west and south-west through gorges for about 128 km (80 mi) before emptying into the Adriatic Sea near the town of Lezh. The Drin is not navigable.
