Solihull, borough in the metropolitan county of West Midlands, central England, on the River Blythe, joining Birmingham to the south-east. Solihull is largely a residential area, but it also manufactures motor vehicles and electrical equipment. Of note there are the 13th-century church of St Alphege and the elegant 18th-century Malvern Hall, now a private school. The borough was enlarged in 1974 and includes rural areas and Birmingham International Airport. Population 199,521 (2001).
