Windows Live® Search Results Chaudière, river of southern Quebec, Canada, 193 km (120 mi) long. It begins at Lac Mégantic, near the Maine border, and flows north to the St Lawrence River, opposite the city of Quebec. Chaudière Falls (40 m/130 ft high) lies near the river's mouth and is the site of a hydroelectric facility. In 1776, the American general Benedict Arnold led his troops along the river in their failed attack on Quebec during the American War of Independence.
