Windows Live® Search Results Max Brod (1884-1968), Austrian (Czech) writer, born in Prague, and educated at the University of Prague. He was the friend, biographer, and editor of the writer Franz Kafka, whose works were published posthumously through Brod's efforts. In 1939 Brod settled in Palestine and became associated with the Habima Theatre in Tel Aviv. His many works include the historical novel The Redemption of Tycho Brahe (1916; trans. 1928) and biographies of Heinrich Heine (1934) and Franz Kafka (1937).
