Casca, Publius Servilius (died c. 42 bc), Roman politician, one of the assassins of Julius Caesar. According to the Greek biographer Plutarch, Casca was the one who struck the first blow, stabbing Caesar in the back. He probably committed suicide after the Battle of Philippi when the forces of Mark Antony and Octavian, later the Emperor Augustus, defeated the army of another of Caesar's assassins, Marcus Junius Brutus, with whom Casca had sided.
