Neisse, also Lusatian Neisse (Pol., Nysa Łużycka), river, north central Europe, about 260 km (160 mi) long, forming part of the border between Germany and Poland. The Neisse rises in the Sudety Mountains, in the north-western Czech Republic, and flows north to join the Oder River near Eisenhüttenstadt, Germany. Görlitz, Germany, is the principal city on its banks. Another, shorter Neisse River, the Glatzer Neisse, is situated entirely within Poland and also empties into the Oder River, near Opole.
