Windows Live® Search Results Lower Lough Erne, lake in south-western Northern Ireland. Along with Upper Lough Erne and the River Erne, which links the two, it traverses the county of Fermanagh. One of the most important lakes in the province, it is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), containing more than 100 islets and an abundance of fish and wildlife. With a length of around 29 km (18 mi) and a width of about 8 km (5 mi), Lower Lough Erne is larger than its sister lake. Together they stretch around 72 km (45 mi) and make up around one third of the county's area.
