West Bridgford, town, administrative centre of Nottinghamshire. It is situated 3 km (2 mi) south-east of Nottingham on the south side of the River Trent. Despite having some light industry of its own, the town functions mainly as a residential suburb of Nottingham. West Bridgford is the location of the well-known Trent Bridge cricket ground and has a parish church, the Church of St Giles, which dates back to the 14th century. Population 33,843 (1991).
