Swansea University, institution of higher education in Swansea, Wales. Swansea University is an accredited institution of the University of Wales, which is its degree-awarding body.

It was founded as University College, Swansea in 1920 as part of the federal University of Wales. It later became the University of Wales, Swansea. In September 2007, following a revision of the University of Wales’s charter, it became an independent institution as Swansea University.

Its campus is 5 km (3 mi) from Swansea city centre in parkland overlooking Swansea Bay. Courses are grouped into ten schools: arts; business and economics; engineering; environment and society; health science; human sciences; humanities; law; medicine; and physical sciences.
