Nordic Skiing, a term that describes skiing events involving either cross-country skiing, ski jumping, or Nordic combined (an event that tests both cross-country skiing and ski-jumping skills). The term is sometimes used more loosely to describe all skiing sports that are not considered part of alpine skiing. This definition would also include biathlon, which combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting.
