Bay of Mochima, VenezuelaBay of Mochima, Venezuela

Bay, portion of an ocean or lake that is partially surrounded by land. It forms when water fills low land. This may be caused by land sinking because of movement in the Earth’s crust or because of a rise in sea level. A bay is usually smaller than a gulf. Because their waters are relatively calm and protected, bays often make excellent harbours.
