Pritzker Prize, architectural prize, established by the Hyatt Foundation in 1979. Named after the family of the founders, the Chicago businessman Jay Pritzker and his wife Cindy, the prize is awarded annually to a living architect. It is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious awards for architecture.

The winner is selected from nominees by an international jury by secret ballot. Nominations have in recent years included architects from more than 40 countries. Winners receive a US$100,000 grant and certificate, as well as a bronze medallion. Recent award-winners include Frank Gehry (1989), Robert Venturi (1991), Renzo Piano (1998), Jørn Utzon (2003), and Zaha Hadid (2004).
