holdover [ hṓld ōvər ] (plural holdovers)


noun 
Definition:
 
1. performing arts somebody or something given extended run: a performer's engagement or a set of performances of a production that is allowed to continue beyond the term originally agreed

2. North America held-over employee: somebody who remains in a job or other position that has come under the control of a different organization
keeping the personnel files of holdover employees

3. North America
