Definition:
 
1. transitive verb cause delay to somebody or something: to cause somebody or something to be late or take longer than intended
Minor disagreements hold up any negotiation.
I was held up in traffic.

2. transitive verb crime rob somebody or something: to rob a person or place using violence or threats, usually at gunpoint

3. transitive verb present somebody or something: to show or display somebody or something for a particular reason
The firefighter was held up as a hero.

4. intransitive verb endure: to continue to function or survive
How's the bike holding up?
You've been holding up well under the strain.

5. intransitive verb remain same: to remain or be maintained at a particular level or in a particular state
