desensitize [ dee sénssə tīz ] (3rd person present singular desensitizes, present participle desensitizing, past and past participle desensitized) or desensitise [ dee sénssə tīz ] (3rd person present singular desensitises, present participle desensitising, past and past participle desensitised)

Definition:
 
1. make somebody less allergic: to make somebody less sensitive to a known allergen by injecting increasing amounts of the allergen over time, building up resistance

2. make somebody less sensitive to fear: to make somebody less responsive to an overwhelming fear by repeated exposure to the feared situation or object, either in natural or artificial circumstances

3. make somebody or something less sensitive: to make somebody or something less sensitive in other respects
