1. hard-backed insect: an insect belonging to a large order characterized by a modified outer pair of wings that form a hard covering for the inner pair. Order Coleoptera.

2. dice game: a game in which players attempt to draw or assemble a complete beetle-shape by throwing a dice and drawing in or collecting the part corresponding to the number thrown
