Han Dynasty:
The Han dynasty ((206 BC-AD 220), which established China as a powerful unified state, was founded by Liu Bang (later Gao Zu) a humble soldier of fortune who became duke of Pei, prince of Han, and in 206 BC, emperor of China. There were 14 Earlier Han emperors and 12 Later Han emperors, but the empire later became weakened and split into the Three Kingdoms in AD 220.
